All residential courses include pick up and drop off at Craignure ferry (optional), full board at our B+B, lunches, soft drinks, all transportation and local guide for the duration of your stay. Meals may be supplied on location (there's nothing better than a barbecue on the beach whilst awaiting the sunset). If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know when booking.

Photo Mull is based at Carsaig on the south of the Isle of Mull. This area gives us access to some stunning vistas as well as being the best area for wildlife including the Sea Eagle, Golden Eagle, Otters, Seals and Red Deer.

Operating from our Land Rover means there's plenty of room for you and your camera equipment with the added ability to get off the beaten track if needed.

The south of the Island gets more sun than the rest of Mull. If bad weather is encountered we can often find a dry part of the island which can give dramatic lighting especially at the edge of a weather front.

Camera equipment

These courses are aimed at keen photographers with DSLR cameras but most bridge cameras with manual control can be used. We have tripods and a range of filters we can use but please bring your own if you have them.

We have cameras available for partners or people wishing to try a DSLR before investing in one.

As most of our clients want to photograph wildlife then please make sure you have a telephoto lens. This doesn't have to be too expensive and we can advise you on what to get if needed.

If you have a laptop with Photoshop and wish to learn some post production techniques then bring it along.

Course aims

Our courses can be as relaxed or as in depth as you require. We find a flexible, fun approach achieves the best results. At the end of the day you are on holiday so classroom type learning is definitely not what we are about.

Learning to view your environment is sometimes the hardest thing to achieve. We will look at and use filters for our landscape photography and will discuss depth of field (aperture) and how that effects our photographs. We will discuss the use of exposure times (shutter speed) to enhance a sea scape or waterfall and of course there will be plenty of opportunity to practice techniques for wildlife photographs.

There are so many opportunities for great photographs on the Isle of Mull which makes it ideally suited to this type of course.
